WITH THE KIDS
Towering above the ground on a Ferris wheel, staring at a shark, riding a merry-go-round. There are thousands of ways to enjoy the city from a different point of view: a kid's perspective. . + PDF CON NIÑOS ES/EN
All Madrilenian adults are especially fond of the Ferris wheel at Parque de Atracciones amusement park , which offers stunning views of the whole Casa de Campo and the city. The Ferris wheel has honourably stood the passing of time despite having to compete with the most sophisticated "contraptions.".
This year the fun fair presents its newest ride: Tifón (Typhoon), a journey that takes passengers 15 metres into the air rotating and swinging constantly. The fun fair also has tornadoes with loops, a shuttle that drops down from in between the clouds at 80 kilometres an hour, 4-D cinema, baby-Viking boats for the youngest members of the family, roller coasters... and a merry-go-round from 1929: a genuine work of art hand made by wood carvers.
The city centre also boasts its own carrousel with horses, elephants and Belle Époque-style carriages. It's located in Calle Serrano -at number 47-, in the heart of the Golden Mile, next to the pedestrian square named after Pablo Serrano. In the corner, you'll find the most modern swings in the city, with a futuristic design. They're not the only designer swings though, because the ones in Plaza de Santo Domingo were designed by Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada.
Plenty of glamour, that's for sure. As glamorous as the streets of Hollywood and the Superheroes World at Warner Bros. Park Madrid, which has recently inaugurated the new season with a musical play starring Bugs Bunny and a water ride for the whole family starring Yogi Bear.
There are also haunted castles, crazy cars, spaceships... Batman is always out and about. So are Superman and even Daffy Duck who would probably love to spend a day off at Faunia, a biological park that reproduces the most lavish ecosystems in the world alongside different habitats and natural environments.
There are birds in all colours and sizes, butterflies, penguins... and even wallabies, small kangaroos originally from Australia. Speaking of Australia, one of the latest animals to take up residence in the Madrid Zoo Aquarium is a baby koala called Noosa, as voted by a group of school children. That's just one of the surprises you'll find in the park, which welcomed two new inhabitants late last year. They have quickly become children's favourites: Bing Xing (Ice Star) and HuaZuiBa (Coloured mouth), a pair of panda bears from China.
